I am here

I never quite know what it is that gets me out of the habit of blogging. I like blogging, I really do. I am one of those people who tells personal stuff without thinking about it (although I admit I am prone to some post-chat paranoia), so blogging is just that for me a chat with a person I may know or I may not know.

Still, whatever the reasons I went a big quiet on the blogging front – if you have answers let me know – I am still here and am actually enjoying my photography business more than ever. I recently took this amazing online course, which triggered the idea for the mini sessions I have been doing recently. Last Saturday, I did 4 family mini-sessions and it was just wonderful. I met the most lovely families and although I was initially worried that 20 minutes would not be enough time at all, it was actually fine. Obviously when you have an hour with a family, I have the freedom to let things just develop a little bit more and the kids are more used to me, still, I managed to capture some lovely family photos in 20 minutes and I am really pleased with myself. And this is something I don’t say lightly.

So I am here, editing photos, planning more amazing offers, looking forward to spring and generally just enjoying being here, where I am.

PS: If you missed out on the family mini sessions, all through March I am offering Family Super Saver sessions, click the following link to learn more: http://www.photographerbirmingham.org/march-family-super-saver-sessions/

Hot Shots – A review

As you know, I am passionate about how women view themselves and I say it over and over again: We are far to hard on ourselves, me included.

So my mission is to assist where I can to make you lovely ladies out there realise that you are gorgeous, fabulous and wonderful: just as you are.

But those are my words, so I wanted to share Jo’s words with you. I did session recently with Jo in Bewdley and here is her experience:

“I am the worst critic at photos of mysef. I don’t like one thing or another, my nose, my teeth, the microscopic blemish only visiible under a microscope! I will always find something not to like in a photo of myself.

I was unsure of what to expect before hand. I didn’t know if you would direct me to sit/stand in a certain way or if you would just say ‘carry on eith your day and i’ll take the pics’.

I was very nervous about the shoot before you arrived and agonsied for a long time over what to wear etc. But once you arrived and we chatted over a coffee I felt a lot more at ease at you taking my photo.  You relaxed me, advised me the best way to pose, I loved your little analagies for each shot ‘pretend you are a writer and this is your book cover shot’  There more I relaxed and laughed the more I became myself albeit a surreal version of myself having my photo taken.

It has made me realise that yes I have imperfections, who doesn’t, but every photo is beautiful if it makes you feel good about yoursef when you look at it!

I loved my Hot Shots shoot, and that was purely down to how comfortable that you made me feel. You made me laugh and feel natural about having my photograph taken without it being formal and contrived. It was such a fun way to spend a morning and I would heartily recommend it to others. Go on, do it!”
